Ford Ranger guide

Ford Ranger trims explained: which Ranger grade makes sense?

The Ranger range now stretches from practical work ute to premium family tourer, off-road special and plug-in hybrid. The right trim is less about the highest badge and more about how much towing, cabin comfort, off-road hardware and resale confidence you need.

Last checked: 7 July 2026. Confirm current grade availability and driveaway pricing with Ford or a dealer before ordering.

How to choose

For business use

XL, XLS and XLT are the cleanest starting points. Compare cab style, tray needs, payload after accessories and capped servicing before spending on lifestyle trims.

For family use

XLT, Wildtrak and Platinum make more sense because everyday comfort, driver assistance, cabin storage and resale appeal matter as much as headline towing.

For towing

Ford promotes up to 3500kg towing on Ranger, but the real answer depends on GVM, GCM, towball download, passengers and accessories.

For off-road use

Tremor and Raptor are the obvious specialist names. Tremor is the more practical off-road work/touring angle; Raptor is the high-performance halo.
